Cultural Abyss

I was in a cultural abyss last night when I was playing Apples to Apples with a group of people that I didn't know well. (Very different game when you are playing with people that you do know well.) One of the cards was Neil Simon (an author). Most of the people that I was playing the game with thought that he was Neil Diamond. Another person thought that he was Paul Simon. I guess I really take for granted that people know who basic cultural icons are. I was just really surprised that people didn't know.

Maybe I was the only person there that ever listened to an oldies station or watched TV. Or had basic knowledge of popular fiction.

Arriving at work after New Commute

Arrived at work on time, even a little early. Got off the metro thinking that getting off the metro at Farragut West has become cliche. (Everybody gets off the orange line at Farragut West that is my age.) Did my usual morning things - checked e-mails, talked to co-worker about schedule for the day, etc. Did some spinning around in circles sitting on my swivel chair.

Now that all the important stuff is done, I better get back to staring at budgets. But first, Congratulations to Tiana on the new addition to the family. I hope everybody is well.

Because it is too late to call....

...I am posting something for Amber.

Amber - Remember when I got back from Seattle and I told you that I almost called you from the airport to tell you about some hot guy that I saw before I got on the plane, but it was really early so I didn't call, then you told me that I should have called anyway? Well....I didn't get a chance to call again because I was in a movie and the guy was in the movie. It was a Spanish guy rock climbing shirtless in Spain. I don't think I've ever seen a guy that lean with muscles that smooth. Anyway, that's just for you since I thought it might make you smile on a stressful day.

:)
